Computing

A strong knowledge of computer science, information technology and digital literacy has the potential to change our lives. Through our computing curriculum at Hackbridge we aim to develop children’s understanding and confidence when using key pieces of software and hardware as well as allowing for high quality programming and creative opportunities. Children will learn key aspects of modern computing as well as the history of the subject, focussing on a diverse range of computing pioneers. Through learning how to use technology effectively and safely, children will be able to apply this to their lives inside and outside of school.

Through our computing curriculum we endeavour to help children at Hackbridge Primary school to develop:

• a strong understanding of how to remain safe online;

• the ability to use a range of software effectively to create new media;

• the opportunity to develop programming skills;

• their critical awareness of a range of websites and search engines.
