History

Through our history curriculum the aim is to develop children’s curiosity about the past, giving them the opportunity to ask questions and explore local, British and world history at different points during their learning journey with us.

Our history curriculum should ensure that children leave Hackbridge with:

• A well-rounded knowledge of aspects of British and world history, as well as the rich local history around us.

• An understanding of how a range of diverse figures have contributed to the development of history.

• A good understanding of key historical vocabulary, concepts and chronology.

• The ability to apply historical knowledge and enquiry skills.

• Knowledge of how artefacts and research can contribute to our understanding of the past.
